We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Technology Sector and we have an excellent opportunity for an IT Services Manager.

IT Services Manager’s Key Duties

  • Supporting the formulation and implementation an ambitious ICT strategy for a new, growing, and developing school
  • Providing a comprehensive ICT service to the school
  • Working as part of a multi academy trust
  • Lead the ongoing development, maintenance and management of the curriculum and administration IT systems, media/social media systems, printing and copying systems, equipment and resources and telecommunications software and equipment in accordance with the Academy Development Plan and legislative requirements
  • To ensure all school ICT systems are operational, prioritising and supporting at all times the school's key function of providing an exciting and safe teaching and learning environment for its students, staff and visitors
  • Provide technical support for the wider life of the school to include assemblies and lessons, school events and be available for evening events as required
  • Work alongside outside companies who provide hardware and infrastructure

Strategic Planning

  • Develop medium and long term coordinated planning based on the school’s educational objectives to keep the school up to date with developments in ICT
  • Plan for major developments of the ICT service and project manage their implementation

Resource Management

  • Set support priorities, balancing response to support requests with the need to follow planned monitoring and maintenance
  • Manage the relevant IT budgets and achieve best value for the school’s ICT expenditure
  • Manage and implement the installation of all new computer software as required, enabling the delivery of ICT to all operational areas

Development and Maintenance of Technical Systems

  • Advise SLT on the implementation of ICT policies and procedures
  • Design, implement, monitor and review school procedures for managing and recording installations and configuration changes
  • Design, implement and manage the network infrastructure to meet the school's requirements,
  • Manage active network components including switches and routers; install additional servers, keep the network operating system up to date and oversee the maintenance of network workstations
  • Provide first, second and third level support for more complex requests; perform advanced troubleshooting on PCs, peripherals and applications
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the website; including associated social media

IT Services Manager’s Essential Skills

  • Educated to A Level standard or Level 3
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant software and hardware
  • Significant IT experience in a senior role with line management responsibilities
  • Proven record of project planning, development and delivery
  • Proven record of successfully managing budgets
  • Proven experience in managing a small team of staff
  • Experience in an education setting
  • Ability to work without supervision and confidence in own work
  • Passion for high standards in all tasks
  • Self-motivated and relentless drive for excellence
  • Examples of good practice
  • Ability to respond under pressure
  • Ability to develop own CPD

IT Services Manager’s Desirable Skills

  • Degree in IT related field
  • Relevant further professional development or qualifications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of packages
  • Experience of working as part of a Multi Academy Trust
  • Knowledge of wider school operations
  • Experience of working with senior level staff
