LinkPoint and IT Recruit UK specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the IT sector. We have an excellent opportunity for an IT Technical Support Operative to join our client in Baldock.

The successful candidate will help users of the company’s technology solutions with any queries or issues that they might have. You will be one of the first people the clients will come to. Issues may range from forgotten passwords to using the content management systems and resolving queries for Time Pursuit clients.

IT Technical Support Operative’s Core Duties

  • Work with customers / employees to identify problems and give advice on the solution
  • Log and keep records of client / employee queries
  • Analyse call logs to spot common trends and underlying problems
  • Update self-help documents (How to’s) so clients / employees can try to fix problems themselves
  • Work with the Account Managers / other employees if the problem is more serious
  • Test and report on new software developments
  • Helping to alter settings on a user’s computer to diagnosing faults and solving technical problems, usually over the phone but also email and in person
  • Get the right people working on problems / issues and communicate with the client to provide follow-up advice on the situation’s status and its resolution
  • Resolve issues timely, accurately and professionally

IT Technical Support Operative’s Skills required

  • Strong technical background and be able to explain complex information in a clear and simple form to non-IT specialists
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge
  • Ability to deal with difficult callers with good interpersonal and customer care skills

Technical Support Operative’s Key Experience

  • 2-3 years’ experience in an IT support role
  • Minimum of 2 A Levels and / or equivalent IT qualifications (BTEC National Diploma in Computing or higher)
